The CIHT North West Region Awards recognise excellence in the following categories:

  • Project of the Year
  • Environmental Award
  • Safety Award
  • Best Practice Award.

The winners were:

Project of the Year Award

Winner:  A556 Knutsford to Bowden Inprovement (Highways England, Costain & Capita)

Highly Commended:  M6 Hassall Green & Salt-Line Improvements (Balfour Beatty - Mott MacDonald Joint Venture with Cheshire East Council)

Environmental Award

Winner:  Great Howard Street Bridge (John Graham with Liverpool City Council)

Safety Award

Winner:  SAFETYcam (Carnell & Kier)

Best Practice Award

Winner:  Virtual Reality Tool Box Talks (Morgan Sindall)

Highly Commended:  Digital Solution for Managing Fatigue (Carnell)

CIHT North West Special Award

Salford Traffic-Free Routes ((Salford City Council with Urban Vision)

The After-Dinner Speaker was Peter Barron MBE, who is one of the most respected campaigning journalists in the regional press, as well as a broadcaster and children’s author.  Peter was awarded the MBE for services to journalism and community life; he is a former UK Columnist of the Year.
