CECA NW 2017 Awards Dinner

2017 is the 21^st anniversary of the Civil Engineering Contractors' Association North West, and it coincides with more and more projects being developed in the region.

CECA NW members work to build and maintain essential infrastructure and facilities in our region, delivering an estimated 70-80% of the £2 billion worth of civil engineering that is carried out in the North West each year.  

CECA NW members have the capability and capacity to deliver projects of all sizes in disciplines across the whole of the infrastructure sector and the very best will be recognised at this event.

Awards were presented in the following categories:

Project over £5 million

Winner: BAM Nuttall for the Liverpool 2 Deep Water Container Terminal. There were two runners up: Graham Construction for the Gladstone Biomass Terminal; and Buckingham Contracting Group for the Protos Infrastructure Works.

Project up to £5 million

Winner: Bethell Construction for the Captain’s Bridge scheme, Stockport. There were two runners up: PL Civil Engineering for their work on the Ordsall Chord project; and Eric Wright Civil Engineering for the Kirkthorpe Hydro scheme on the River Calder.

Collaborative partnership award

Winner: PP O’Connor and Laing O’Rourke for the Davyhulme Wastewater Treatment Works. The runner up was Eric Wright Civil Engineering and Barn Energy for the development of three hydro-electric plants.

Social value award

Winner: The Eric Wright Charitable Trust. Runner up: D Morgan for their excellence in training and employment.

Most successful associate member

Winner: CPUK Civils & Remediation.

Women in civil engineering

Winner: Diane Bourne, Managing Director of Eric Wright Civil Engineering, whose career has developed from being a manager to a mentor, to a business leader.

Young professional of the year

Winner: Llinos Owen, BAM Nuttall, an ambassador for the industry, who has worked on major projects across the region and become a role model for young people seeking a career in civil engineering.

Lifetime achievement

Winner: Mike Elford, Tarmac Ltd, who has 41 years’ experience in civil engineering, highways, surfacing and quarrying.

The after dinner speaker was the record-breaking adventurer Miles Hilton-Barber.
